city of joy - vlisco

live event/animated projections

I was deeply honored to be part of a fashion show, where we crafted background projections to highlight the works of five remarkable female African fashion designers. This event was held on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, a day dedicated to celebrating resilience and advocating for change. Vlisco, in collaboration with City of Joy, paid tribute to the "World's Strongest Women" through a moving fabric collection that represents their journey of healing from rape and trauma. The City of Joy, located in Bukavu in eastern Congo, stands as a beacon of hope and recovery for many.

Drawing inspiration from the intricate designs and patterns of these unique fabrics, the projections were intentionally designed to be subtle yet impactful. They served as an elegant and engaging backdrop, allowing the designers' creations and the poignant message of the cause to take center stage. This project was more than just a visual display; it was a powerful testament to the strength and resilience of women, fostering awareness and supporting a noble cause.
